The first Other Mommy trailer, back in July, was more than enough to freeze the blood. Terrifying from start to finish, it mainly showed us a Jessica Chastain in a register we're far less used to seeing, a long way from her dramatic turns and more conventional characters. Here she plays a deeply unsettling mother capable of turning into an outright nightmare for her own daughter. This new trailer — the final one, in fact — piles it on further and confirms that the Oscar-winning actress looks ready to let rip in full horror mode.
And for anyone who hasn't been following the film, Chastain plays both a perfectly ordinary mum and a creature who looks exactly like her (we'd have preferred to discover that in the film itself, but there we go...). Except this "other mommy" is anything but reassuring. She appears every night in the wardrobe of Bela, an eight-year-old girl, and endlessly asks her the same question: "Can I come into your heart?" Naturally, when the child says no, the creature gradually turns more aggressive and starts going after the whole family.
Adapted from Josh Malerman's novel Incidents "Around the House" (the author of Bird Box), Other Mommy is directed by Rob Savage, the filmmaker behind Host and The Boogeyman. It's produced by James Wan (who needs no introduction), Atomic Monster and production outfit Blumhouse, with a concept that leans hard into childhood fears and the loss of trust in the adults who are supposed to protect us. The new trailer pushes that idea even further, with a ball pit turned into a full-blown horror trap and an innocent bubble bath that suddenly takes a much darker turn. Alongside Jessica Chastain, the cast includes Jay Duplass, Dichen Lachman, Karen Allen and young Arabella Olivia Clark as Bela.
Originally slated for May, Other Mommy was eventually pushed back to make the most of the Halloween season. The film hits cinemas on 9 October 2026 in the US and 14 October in France. With a gap like that, brace yourself for the online leaks...
