After the runaway success of Under Paris on Netflix in 2024 (102.3 million views), Xavier Gens has just wrapped his new science-fiction feature, which goes by the name of Homewrecker. And the project is a particularly interesting one, since it brings together Simu Liu, Allison Williams, Michelle Randolph and France’s own Anaïs Parello. Shooting officially wrapped on 21 August, after roughly a month of production in France. Xavier Gens and his team alternated between exterior locations and studio stages, with part of the filming taking place at Luc Besson’s studios at the Cité du Cinéma.
A new survival film after Under Paris
Homewrecker is also a way for Xavier Gens to reconnect with an American production — he is of course used to working internationally, but this time he is taking on science fiction after Under Paris. What’s it about? Well, in Homewrecker, three Americans are forced to set their differences aside after a devastating family revelation, just as a mysterious and terrifying global event suddenly threatens to destroy their everyday lives. Details are still under wraps at this stage, but the film is being presented as a survival thriller in the spirit of 10 Cloverfield Lane.
The main trio will therefore be made up of Simu Liu, star of Shang-Chi and soon to be seen in Avengers: Doomsday, Allison Williams, seen in Get Out and M3GAN, and Michelle Randolph, best known for 1923. Anaïs Parello, already directed by Gens in Under Paris, rounds out the cast. The screenplay is by Elisa Bell and Travis Gordon, while production is handled in particular by Denise Di Novi and Parallel 42. The film is financed and distributed internationally by north.five.six.
No release date has been announced for Homewrecker yet, but we do know the film has now moved into post-production...
