We already knew IO Interactive planned to extend the 007 First Light experience after launch, and that day has finally come. As of a few hours ago, you can fire up an update and enjoy everything the Danish studio has lined up for the millions of players who picked the game up back in May. Better still, cherry on the gun: it's completely free. This DLC, dubbed "Extended Operations", adds brand-new content as well as several features players have been crying out for, starting with a Photo mode and a New Game+ that lets you take on the adventure again with an extra difficulty level. Let's dig into the details.
The Aston Martin Valhalla is back on duty
The first addition is an activity built around the Aston Martin Valhalla, the James Bond motor we got to drive near the end of the campaign for a gloriously cathartic shooting sequence. This time the goal is a time trial on the roads of Slovakia, using the car's missiles and turrets to get through as quickly as possible. Four versions of the course are on offer, each with different conditions depending on the time of day, which should boost the replay value. Your performances are then recorded and paraded on global leaderboards, so you'll know exactly where you stand. Round these parts, that's usually not very high.

But that's not all, because there's a brand-new mission too, going by the rather lovely name of 'Jungle Heist', which takes James Bond to a villa in a seaside resort. The agent has to track down the codes needed to open a safe, grab its contents and then make it to the roof to escape. On top of that, this update lets us play around with the long-awaited 'Photo' mode. IO Interactive has actually gone to the trouble of outdoing the usual photo modes with some novel tools, letting you move the camera, apply various filters, create custom lighting and, best of all, use poses designed specifically for your shots. And finally, the "Extended Operations" DLC throws in extra weapons — two, to be precise — along with three new outfits designed by Q. Outfits you'll be able to wear in New Game+, just like the other costumes already unlocked during the campaign.
Speaking of New Game+, you'll be able to replay the whole campaign with your unlocked weapons and outfits, plus a few new bits of kit. Above all, though, IO Interactive has taken the opportunity to add an extra difficulty level called "Double 0". Apparently it's for the hard cases...
