Are the creators of Days Gone currently working on a new game? That, at least, is what MP1st reckons. The site has spoken to sources who confirmed that a title is in development at Bend Studio. Details are naturally thin on the ground for now, but it would appear to be a third-person game with a co-op focus.

Concord, a failure still fresh in everyone's mind

Given what a bruising flop Concord turned out to be (development costs estimated at between $200 and $400 million, pulled from sale just two weeks after release), Sony reportedly has absolutely no intention of going with a live-service business model. Although it hasn't been made official yet, the project is said to be at an advanced stage. An announcement in 2027 and a release the same year are apparently on the cards.

MP1st doesn't know whether this is an all-new IP, but it is adamant on one point: it isn't Days Gone 2. Since Days Gone launched in 2019 (we're not counting Days Gone Remastered, which the PS5 received in 2025), Bend Studio hasn't been involved in any other productions. Before Deacon St. John's adventures, the studio developed Uncharted: Golden Abyss on PS Vita (2011), and was long associated with the Syphon Filter series.

One project has already been scrapped

On that note, back in February, former staff members (including animator Robert Morrison) revealed that one of the studio's projects had been flat-out cancelled by Sony after three years of work. Known internally as "Mirror Pond", it is described as an open-world military game built around live service. Assets have even done the rounds online, and the teams were reportedly working with the Decima Engine (Death Stranding, Horizon: Forbidden West), Guerrilla Games' proprietary engine (which would have been a major shift, as Days Gone was built in Unreal Engine).

While we're on the subject of cancelled games, let's not forget that Electronic Arts recently chose to shut down BioWare and bury Mass Effect 5 along with it. According to Jason Schreier, that sacrifice was made for the benefit of Star Wars Battlefront 3.
