Delayed by several months (to 3 December 2026), Rayman Legends Retold is making the most of the post-summer rush to speak up again, and above all to treat us to a hefty presentation video. It's the Overview Trailer, here to break down the new additions and the changes, and it lands alongside the second wave of press previews from those who got to play it remotely at home, or at gamescom. And as you probably already know, this remake of the 2013 game isn't settling for a simple graphical facelift. Rayman Legends Retold also intends to flesh out the original adventure with a new story, a completely unseen kingdom, 4 new music levels, fresh gameplay mechanics and several extra activities.

A new kingdom and a new story

The main novelty in this remake lies with the Haunted Heath, which is in fact an entirely new sixth kingdom that you'll unlock gradually over the course of the adventure. Rayman will be able to use the Fairy Shard there, a new power granted by Betilla the Fairy, which should open up fresh possibilities during the platforming sections. It's also in this mysterious region that you'll find the source of the evil threatening the various kingdoms of the Glade of Dreams. Ubisoft is also promising a more developed story, with new voiced cutscenes (in French too) and a plot that rounds out the original game's.

Worth noting that the famous music levels from the 2013 original Rayman Legends will of course be back, but Ubisoft isn't planning to simply recycle existing content. Four new music levels will turn up, along with new compositions. Another addition highlighted in this presentation: dragon-back rides. These sequences let you travel between the different kingdoms with gameplay that is admittedly on rails, but offers a bit of a breather. A lighter take on Panzer Dragoon, in a way...

Rayman gets the customisation treatment too

We also know that Rayman Legends Retold will introduce a customisation system far more developed than in the original game. Rayman, Globox, Barbara and Grand Minimus will each get dozens of outfits to set them apart. And finally, when the heroes need to catch their breath between two levels, they can always gather round a game of Kung Foot EVO. The famous mini-game returns with new arenas, more possibilities, extra bonuses and additional options that let you tailor the matches, whether solo or in teams.

But that's not all: Ubisoft wants to give players a reason to come back regularly with the "Trials Cavern" mode. It'll serve up daily, weekly and monthly challenges for anyone after a bit more of a test. The most determined can also take on the "Old Nightmare of the Abyss" challenges, with leaderboards and rewards designed to celebrate the history of the Rayman series. And the icing on the cake: Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition will also be bundled into the Retold remake, with quality-of-life improvements, 4K output and new rewards.

Rayman Legends Retold is out on 3 December 2026 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2.
