Capcom keeps on fleshing out Street Fighter 6 and has just revealed a new character as the second fighter of Year 4. Say hello to Arjun, another combatant hailing from India, who steps into the ring on 13 October. But who exactly is this Arjun? Before he found himself in the arena, Arjun was a police officer in India. His life fell apart when his partner was murdered and he was wrongly accused of the killing. Now on the run, he's trying to work out what really happened, devoting every breath he takes to uncovering the truth.
As for his fighting style, Arjun is a genuine colossus, the polar opposite of Dhalsim, favouring raw power and stage control over speed. His breathing techniques let him deal recoverable damage even when his attacks are blocked, while projectiles and traps keep his opponent under constant pressure. His moveset is built around the "Breathing Ring", a ring of air he can launch at various heights. There's also "Divine Pillar", which sends an imposing pillar of earth bursting up from the ground, and Arjun can then combine the two techniques, or even use his Justice Beyond attack to grab an active pillar and hurl it in whichever direction he likes.
His breathing plays a defensive role too: with the "Indomitable Defence" move, Arjun hyper-oxygenates his muscles to turn incoming melee attacks into counters that deal recoverable damage. It's a mechanic that should let him flip certain situations in his favour, especially for players who like to bide their time before punishing their opponent.
The polar opposite of Dhalsim
His three Super Arts round out that approach. "Howling Destruction", his level 1 Super Art, chains together rapid surges tied to his breathing technique. "Instant Oblivion", at level 2, launches the opponent into the air before knocking them away, giving Arjun time to set up a "Divine Pillar". Finally, "Yaksha's Order", his level 3 Super Art, disrupts his opponent's inner ear before leading into a particularly brutal cinematic attack. Arjun will be available from 13 October to owners of the Year 4 Ultimate Pass and the Year 4 Character Pass. Two costumes will also be on offer: the first shows the character while on the run, while the second presents a more idealised version of Arjun, one who has given up his quest for justice. This Costume 2 can be unlocked by filling its acquisition gauge in Avatar Arcade mode or with Fighter Coins.
