There's no doubt about it, the production of The Batman Part 2 is cursed. With filming in full swing for several weeks now, we've just learned that the shoot has been suspended, quite simply because director Matt Reeves had to leave urgently for family reasons. The news was revealed exclusively by Deadline before being confirmed by Warner Bros and DC Studios, who stated that “production on The Batman Part II has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves attends to a family matter”. Both companies made clear that the director has their “full support” and that the teams hope to resume filming soon. No further details have been given about the family situation, so there's no basis for speculating about its nature. Warner Bros.' message is unambiguous on one point, however: this is a temporary pause and Matt Reeves remains at the helm of the film.

Still slated for a February 2028 release
That said, The Batman Part 2 is still expected on 18 February 2028 and Warner Bros has announced no new changes to the schedule, while the sources cited by Deadline reckon it's still too early to know whether this pause will have any impact on the release. It's worth remembering that the production has already suffered several delays since it was announced, as the film was initially set for October 2025 before being pushed back to 2026, then October 2027 and finally February 2028. But after that long period of preparation, filming on The Batman Part 2 was well under way in the streets of Glasgow in Scotland, with several sequences caught on camera by onlookers. As for the cast, it has grown considerably for this sequel with the arrivals of Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry, Jayme Lawson, Charles Dance, Gil Perez-Abraham and Sebastian Koch.
We're sending our best wishes to Matt Reeves in any case.
