We already knew Xbox had a flair for dreaming up collector consoles with wildly improbable designs, but Microsoft has just crossed a line nobody really saw coming. With its new Xbox Series console, dubbed "X-BITE", the Redmond firm pushes past the limits of imagination with a machine that looks as though it's been gulped down whole by an alligator. And the maddest part of the whole story? It actually works. No bullshit. The announcement landed on 3 November on the official Xbox site, complete with a promo video showing off this rather unlikely creation. The nod to Florida is obviously no accident, and the GTA 6 link even less so, since Microsoft says it drew its inspiration from the local wildlife. The result is an artificial alligator measuring over 1.5m, built to look as though it's swallowed the console whole. Better still, the Xbox logo glows through its body, while its eyes sport green irises with pupils shaped like the brand's symbol.

The wireless controller bundled with this special edition has been customised too. It bears bite marks and sits wedged between the creature's jaws. To bring this peculiar beast to life, Xbox turned to John Nolan Studio, specialists in animatronics and practical effects whose work has already been seen in productions such as The Witcher and Jurassic World Dominion. The studio handled the modelling, sculpting and fabrication of the alligator, with particular care given to the textures and finish, according to the official site. It's hard not to read the whole thing as a marketing campaign designed to grab attention in the run-up to GTA VI's release. The timing and the Florida references are hardly coincidental. That said, Xbox is presenting this creation first and foremost as a one-off piece to be won in a competition — assuming the lucky winner has room for a 1.5m alligator in their living room.

Microsoft is indeed running a prize draw for this Xbox Series X-BITE, and to enter you need to follow the official Xbox account on X, Instagram or TikTok, then reshare the relevant post, manually adding the hashtag #XbiteSweepstakes. Your account must remain public so the entry can be verified. The competition runs from 3 to 10 November 2026, with a cut-off of 11.59pm Pacific time. The person selected will then have 48 hours to claim their prize.
