While everyone is busy waiting on GTA 6's numbers, which are bound to be phenomenal, there's another title quietly going about its business. That game is EA Sports FC 27, out for a fortnight now (a bit longer if you count early access), and the figures it's posting are frankly absurd. According to estimates from Alinea Analytics, Electronic Arts' game has shifted 7.9 million copies to date, for total revenue said to be north of $714 million. That's already enough to make it the highest-grossing game of 2026, ahead of Resident Evil Requiem and Forza Horizon 6. And behind those numbers, it's the game's performance on PS5 that really stands out — along with the fact that France is leading every other market.

Officially released on 25 September 2026, with early access from 18 September for players who bought certain premium editions, EA Sports FC 27 is reckoned to have generated $573.9 million on PlayStation (PS5 + PS4) in just 19 days. That's 22% more than last year's instalment, EA Sports FC 26, over the same period. Xbox sales account for $106 million, a 14% drop on 2025, while the Steam version reportedly reached $34.2 million, down 17% year on year.
Early access clearly played its part here, because of the 7.9 million copies estimated, roughly 4 million are thought to have been sold before the official 25 September launch, already bringing in close to $400 million. Nor should you underestimate the 'Ultimate Plus' edition, the €160 one, which granted a week's head start and a raft of Ultimate Team perks — that too helped Electronic Arts shift EA Sports FC 27 by the crateload.

And merci, France!
Another figure that will go down well at Electronic Arts' French arm: France is the biggest market for EA Sports FC 27 in revenue terms. The country accounts for 14.3% of takings, around $82.5 million. The United States follows on 11.9%, then the UK on 10.7%. A fairly surprising ranking when you consider Britain is a far more football-obsessed nation than the US. On the other hand, still according to Alinea Analytics' figures, physical has become a tiny minority on PS5: only 8.2% of copies sold on the platform were physical, around 501,000 units. The game's premium editions and their digital perks are clearly pushing a chunk of the audience towards buying digitally.

Alinea also notes an audience that is extremely loyal to the franchise. We learn that 62% of EA Sports FC 27 players on PlayStation had played FC 26 during the month of September, while 30% of them had played Fortnite, 20% Roblox and 18% Rocket League. By contrast, fewer than 2% had played Marvel's Wolverine, which means the EA Sports FC 27 crowd is still overwhelmingly made up of players used to live-service games and sports titles, rather than consumers hoovering up every big release of the year.
Finally, there's one more interesting data point: time spent in-game. According to Alinea Analytics, nearly half of PlayStation players have already clocked more than 15 hours, while over 41% have put in at least 20 hours and close to 1% have gone beyond 50. More impressive still, over 3% have already passed the 100-hour mark. For a game that's only been out a few weeks, those numbers give a decent sense of just how invested the community is.
