You might have forgotten, but in a few months' time the Gran Turismo series will be celebrating its 30th birthday. Yes, already. To mark the occasion, PlayStation is preparing a new limited edition DualSense controller paying tribute to the famous racing franchise developed by Polyphony Digital. This collector's DualSense aims to celebrate three decades of a series that has become essential viewing for racing sim fans. Kazunori Yamauchi, the boss of Polyphony Digital, explains that this commemorative controller represents how far things have come since Gran Turismo was created, and thanks the players who keep the passion for cars alive through the franchise.
On the design front, Sony has gone all out with graphic touches borrowed from motorsport, notably the racing stripes and the carbon fibre-style faceplate. Let's be honest, it looks rather good, especially in video, with the roar of engines in the background. This collector's version of the Gran Turismo DualSense will be available from 10 December 2026, priced at €84.99, with pre-orders opening on 22 October.
A big new update for Gran Turismo 7
The announcement also coincides with the rollout of the first part of Gran Turismo 7's "Spec IV" update, which is available free of charge. On the menu: six new cars, the Japanese Sportsland Sugo circuit, new events and several feature improvements. As for the new vehicles, Polyphony Digital has brought together some wildly different models, from the futuristic Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo to the 1994 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta, by way of the 1987 Honda Civic Si Group A, the Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Evo, the Honda Step WGN Spada Premium Line MPV and the ever-present 1986 Citroën 2 CV 6 Charleston. Plenty to flesh out players' virtual garages even further.
