It had been a while since Stuntman Hollywood had made much noise, but Saber Interactive's game has finally resurfaced with a gameplay trailer that should strike a chord with anyone in their forties or fifties still pining for the 80s. After Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, Fast & Furious and Miami Vice, it's Knight Rider's turn to join the roster, in footage that puts the legendary KITT front and centre. Instantly recognisable by its black bodywork and red scanner light up front, the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am strings together stunts on a film set, with plenty of nods to the show's most memorable scenes. We see the car tear through explosions, fire up its turbo boost to clear obstacles and even deploy its defensive gadgets. There's even a blue laser blast thrown in for good measure, rounding off a decent selection of the gizmos that made the series such fun.
A return 20 years in the making for the Stuntman series
Worth remembering that the Stuntman series hadn't been heard from since Stuntman Ignition back in 2007, so very nearly 20 years ago. That said, there's no sense fixing what isn't broken: the concept stays faithful to the early entries, with players stepping into the shoes of a professional stunt driver tasked with pulling off precise manoeuvres for fictional productions. Driving fast isn't enough, then, since you'll need to nail the timing, the racing lines and the director's instructions to land each sequence.
Developed by Saber Interactive, Stuntman Hollywood is due on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, though no release date has been announced as yet. We have played it for over an hour, mind, and we've got something coming your way soon.
