With GTA 6 only a few weeks away, the last place we expected to see new footage of Rockstar Games' title was an episode of South Park. And even less so a sequence in which Jason picks up a dog turd and smears it across a passer-by's face. That, however, is exactly what Trey Parker and Matt Stone's series has just shown, treating itself to a few seconds of unseen gameplay from Rockstar Games' next title. It's a sequence as absurd as it is perfectly in keeping with the spirit of South Park, but above all it has the merit of showing us an interaction Rockstar had never revealed before.
The scene appears in the fourth episode of Season 29, titled "Guinea Pig on a Stick": in the middle of a conversation between Cartman, Kyle, Stan and Randy, a woman shows them a video of GTA 6. It reveals a particularly busy Vice City beach, with a man walking his dog. The animal does its business on the sand, its owner scoops up the mess, then Jason steps in and goes straight for him. The fight that follows takes a rather unexpected turn, as the character ends up grabbing the turd and lobbing it into his opponent's face. The moment is obviously played for laughs, with the South Park characters swooning over the next-gen graphics and the level of realism Rockstar Games has achieved. Mayor McDaniels even goes so far as to explain that players will be able to pick up animal droppings, throw them at passers-by and use them as a weapon during a brawl. A completely off-the-wall presentation, but one built on genuine footage from the game, since Rockstar Games is duly credited. The marketing genius of the star-spangled outfit has struck again, you have to hand it to them.
This isn't the first time South Park has had fun with the world of video games, either. The series had already devoted several episodes to World of Warcraft, before throwing in some heavy-handed nods to Red Dead Redemption 2. But seeing Rockstar hand unseen GTA 6 footage to an animated series for promotional purposes is quite simply unheard of. Behind the joke, the sequence still offers a glimpse of the care put into environmental interactions. GTA 6 looks keen to push the level of detail in its open world even further, right down to the frankly unlikely situations.
As a reminder, GTA 6 is still scheduled for 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
